Things To Do and Places To Visit around Bryn Sion
The Aran mountain (3000 ft), as well as many other walks can be reached by footpaths directly from the property. Cadair Idris (2930 ft) is another superb climb that can be accessed from Dolgellau. A superb cycle path from Dolgellau to Barmouth situated along the old railway line is only 12 miles from the property. For those wanting a more adventurous cycle, the mountain biking centre at Coed y Brenin is nearby, which will really get your adrenalin going. We can help dry your waterproofs, and cycle storage is available in a shed.
For those wishing a slower paced holiday, the valley is an ideal base for bird watching, fishing and shooting. Horse riding, golf and quad biking are also available nearby.
Both Bala and Vyrnwy lakes are twenty minutes drive over the highest pass in Wales. Barmouth and Aberdovey beaches are within easy driving distance.
Bryn Sion is close to the market town of Machynlleth and Dolgellau, with a range of craft, boutique and antique shops. Locally, we also have the Meirion Woollen Mill – café and shop (2 miles). A local Farmer's Market is held on the 2nd Sunday of every month in Dinas Mawddwy.
